About Us | Eight Agreed Statements | Our Purpose | Our Values

Every organization that endures over time is based on a deeply shared combination of purpose, belief, and values. So it is with the Church of the Nazarene. It was founded to transform the world by spreading scriptural holiness (Christ-like living). It is both a Great Commission church and a Holiness church at the same time. Our mission is to make Christ-like disciples of all nations.

Each local congregation of the Church of the Nazarene is a faith community, ready to greet you in Jesus' name. There you will discover opportunities not only to encounter Jesus as your Savior and Lord, but to grow as a follower of Christ. Local churches offer ministry opportunities for serving others. Fellowship, worship, training and education are all part of our life together in Christ. With over 80 congregations all over central and southeast Ohio, our vision and mission embraces the entire world. We invite you to experience the unique fellowship of your nearby Church of the Nazarene.

Commentary

The biblical message of Christian holiness is timeless in necessity and radically relevant in today’s world. The plenary inspiration of the Scriptures not only allows the reader to ‘hear in their heart’ what God has said to others in the past, but also what God is saying to them today for current direction and inspiration.

We, as Nazarenes, are conservative evangelicals, and are rooted in the holiness movement. At the recent quadrennial General Assembly, Nazarenes gathered in Orlando, Florida USA from all 156 world areas where our church is currently ministering. At the core of our beliefs is the Article of Faith X on  Christian Holiness and Entire Sanctification. This is the work of God which transforms believers into the likeness of Christ. This transformation occurs through the Holy Spirit both instantaneously in initial sanctification then entire sanctification, which allows the surrendered believer to experience the continual perfecting work of the Holy Spirit in their heart and life while living for Christ here on earth. The end result  is the believer’s  glorification at their entering into the presence of the Lord upon physical death.

Victorious Christian living IS POSSIBLE in the HERE and NOW. We would encourage YOU to experience God’s saving, sanctifying grace in your own heart and life throughout this year.
