| Gary Sidle reports that three district assemblies took place in Zambia in October, including the very first assembly of the Zambia Luapula Northern District.
On October 16, Africa Central Field Director Daniel Mokebe called the Zambia Luapula Northern District Assembly to order for the first time, prompting celebratory applause from those in attendance. Francis Mwansa was appointed as the district’s first superintendent. The district is reportedly already off to a good start as they have more than 70 churches and preaching points in the Luapula and Northern Provinces. The theme of the Zambia Luapula District Assembly was ‘Taking Possession of the Land.’ Field Director Daniel Mokebe, left, presided. Earlier on the region, the Zambia South District Assembly took place on October 12 in Lusaka. General Superintendent Jim L. Bond presided along with Mokebe. Peter Njovu was ordained and approximately 25 received district licenses. Part of this growth is due to an extension education program in Zambia. The Zambia North District Assembly was called to order on October 14. The first order of business was to change the name of the district to pave the way for the creation of Zambia Luapula Northern. Zambia North is now the Zambia Copperbelt district. — NCN News-Africa Friday, November 19, 2004 |
