Every Doctor On House's Team, Ranked (2)

House was a medical procedural drama that followed Doctor Gregory House as he dealt with some of the most intriguing and complex medical mysteries. Gregory House was the Head of Diagnostic Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. House had many different doctors on his team throughout the eight seasons of House MD, with some doctors staying only for a short period, while others left and came back multiple times. Many fans strongly feel attached to House's original team, consisting of doctors Foreman, Cameron, and Chase. Others believe that the new doctors, Thirteen, Kutner, and Taub, were the best.

The medical mysteries in House MD required the doctors on House's team to go far and beyond what any regular doctor would do. Some of the doctors on House's team had a harder time dealing with the stress and pressure, as well as House's unique approach to medicine. Others thrived under House's guidance, becoming even better doctors than when they first arrived. A fellowship on House's team was one of the most coveted and prestigious fellowships, and as such, the doctors on House's team were some of the smartest doctors out there. However, some were still better than others.

Dr. Jessica Adams joined House's team in House MD Season 8. And since this was the last season of the show, Adams didn't have enough time to develop as a character or to stand out from other fellows under House. Adams was a good doctor with enough character to put up with House's personality. But the little time she had on the show wasn't enough to leave a strong mark like other members of House's team.

10 Actors You Forgot Were in House

House is a beloved medical procedural with fun cases as well as patients that were played by then-unknown stars.

In many ways, Dr. Adams was a new version of Dr. Allison Cameron, the moral compass of the team. Adams cared about medicine and about how medicine could help others, especially those with less access to it. She came from a wealthy family and volunteered for free or took jobs that paid very little, including the prison where Adams met House for the first time, as long as she could help her patients. Her rivalry with Dr. Park provided a few highlights of her character, but in general, Dr. Jessica Adams didn't have enough time to develop a unique personality or character arc to stand out.

Martha M. Masters joined House's team to replace Thirteen. Masters, unlike the other doctors on House's team, wasn't a board-certified doctor just yet, she was only a student. However, Masters' brilliant mind impressed Lisa Cuddy, and Cuddy demanded that House bring Masters on his team. Masters proved to be a more than qualified member, but her strong moral values and idealistic views of life made her constantly clash with House's cynical views.

Masters fervently opposed lying, which put her in a complicated position in each case House's team took. Most of the time, House resorts to lies and deceptions to manipulate his patients. However, Masters wouldn't do it and was strong enough to defy House. But while Masters was a good match and contrast to House, Masters' objections didn't seem to influence House or his team. Instead, every new case seemed to prove that House's approach to medicine was the correct one, as Masters' excessive honesty created more than one problem. Masters' naive personality and strong moral values could've been used to show House that there are other ways to go about treating patients and that it would still work. However, Masters was proven wrong more than once when her honesty caused problems both for the team and for their patients, proving that House's approach, while sometimes rude and controversial, works.

Dr. Chi Park, just like Dr. Jessica Adams, only joined House's team during House MD Season 8. Since this was the last season of the show, Season 8 gave Dr. Park very little time to fully develop as a character. However, her unique personality and awkward humor made her stand out during the last episodes of the show. Park's friendship with Chase in particular was a highlight of the last season of House MD, but sadly, Park didn't have enough time to shine.

Dr. Park is a doctor who could be easily dismissed as too shy and awkward to be part of House's team. However, Park's strong personality was evident as the season progressed, and she was able to stand up to House, Adams, and anyone who seemed to question her. Given more time, Dr. Park could've been a stand-out of the show. Park wasn't like any other character who's been on House's team before, making her a unique addition to the show. But much like Adams, Park needed more time to reach her full potential in House MD.

6 Dr. Remy Hadley Seemed to Understand House Best

Dr. Remy Hadley, better known as Thirteen, was the one who seemed to know how to treat Gregory House the best. She knew when to take him seriously and when to ignore his jokes or probes for information. Thirteen was an extremely private person, which bothered House. However, this also made Thirteen more interesting, not only to House but to viewers as well. Thirteen questioned House stood up to him and tried to always do what was best for the patients. She also had a unique backstory that made her stand out from other characters.

An Early Season of House Cemented It as One of the Best Medical Dramas

House is one of America's most popular medical dramas, and Season 4 was arguably the high point of the entire series.

Dr. Hadley's medical and family history, and her struggle with Huntington's Chorea, made her one of the most mysterious and compelling characters in House MD. Thirteen was the doctor who seemed to have the most backstory among the other fellows under House. House MD's focus on Thirteen's journey on House's team and her personal life meant that she became an intricate part of the later seasons of House MD. Her relationship with Foreman added a dose of drama to some of the seasons of the show. However, even though Remy Hadley seemed to share a unique understanding of House's character and a silent bond with him, her contributions to the team as a doctor weren't as groundbreaking as other members of House's team.

5 Dr. Chris Taub Was a Great Doctor With a Complex Personal Life

Dr. Chris Taub joined House's team during House Season 4, arguably the best season of the show. In Season 4, House finds himself without his original team, as Foreman and Cameron quit, and Chase is fired during the Season 3 finale of House MD. Taub is one of the many applicants trying to earn a spot on House's team, and throughout Season 4, Taub proves to be a strong asset for House. Taub doesn't have a problem with House's cynical and sarcastic personality or his unique way of practicing medicine. Instead, Taub seems in many ways just as cynical as House.

Yet while he doesn't seem to have a problem with House's tactics, it doesn't mean that Taub won't stand up to House when he feels it's necessary. In some cases, Taub even went against House's orders to prove that House was wrong, and it worked. Taub's personal life is a major part of his character arc, which gives more complexity and depth to his character. Taub was able to stand up to House sometimes, yet most of the time he would simply follow orders and keep his head down. Because of this, Taub worked well in House's team, but he never truly challenged House completely, nor did he have strong character development in the end.

4 Dr. Allison Cameron Always Cared for Her Patients

First Episode

Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot" (also known as "Everybody Lies")

Season 8, Episode 22, "Everybody Dies"

Portrayed by

Jennifer Morrison

Dr. Allison Cameron was one of the original three members of House's team during House Season 1. She became the moral compass of the team, a contrast to Foreman's ambitious nature and Chase's unscrupulous views. Cameron's feelings for House became a central part of the earlier seasons of House MD, especially during Season 1 when House and Cameron even went on a date together. However, Cameron had to face reality and accept that her crush on House would never become more than that, and she eventually moved on.

Why Jennifer Morrison’s Dr. Allison Cameron Left House

Dr. Alison Cameron was undoubtedly a key part of House, giving it a sense of romantic tension. But why did this character decide to leave the show?

✕ Remove Ads

Cameron's interest in House became a controversial part of House MD. Some agreed that their relationship was doomed from the start, and it was even questionable due to the power imbalance and the age difference. Others felt that it made sense for Cameron to have feelings for House, but that it was obvious that House never reciprocated those feelings. Regardless, Cameron's feelings for House were a main part of her character arc, even after Cameron and Chase began to date. Cameron shined within House's team for being the one who seemed to care the most about patients besides the medical mystery. A few times, she even pushed House to be better or to take on cases that House would've otherwise ignored. Cameron was a good member of House's team, but she had a hard time being objective while working under him, which eventually worked against her as a doctor on his team. Cameron's best character development came once she left House's team, but even then, she still struggled to be objective with House, as proven when she took Lisa Cuddy's role for a short while.

3 Dr. Eric Foreman Took the Best From House

Every Doctor On House's Team, Ranked (10)

First Episode

Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot" (also known as "Everybody Lies")

Last Episode

Season 8, Episode 22, "Everybody Dies"

Portrayed by

Omar Epps

Dr. Eric Foreman was ambitious and smart, and he seemed to be the one who learned the most from House. Foreman even supervised House multiple times, an experience that came in handy when Lisa Cuddy left Princeton-Plainboro, and Foreman took over as the Dean of Medicine. Foreman's prejudices and preconceived notions worked against him during the earlier seasons of House MD, but he proved he was able to learn, change, and grow as he learned more about different experiences and perspectives.

✕ Remove Ads

Foreman struggled more than once while working under House, feeling he was losing part of his moral compass and empathy due to House's cynical views. But Foreman had his issues with narcissism and recklessness, especially during his relationship with Thirteen. Foreman tried his best to deny the part of him that resembled House the most, but in the end, his ambitions took the best of him. Foreman was still the best person to become Dean of Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro, as he seemed to be the only one able to fully control House when needed. However, during his time on House's team, Foreman struggled with his own ego and never fully seemed comfortable being part of a team, even if his contributions to the team were some of the best.

2 Dr. Lawrence Kutner Was an Underrated Diagnostician

While he was only part of House's team for two seasons, Dr. Lawrence Kutner stood out for his cheerfulness and positive attitude, as well as for his natural talents for diagnostic medicine. Kutner proved to be an important member of House's team, and during the time he was at Princeton-Plainsboro, Kutner came up with unique ideas that saved the day more than once. Unlike other members of House's team, who would usually come up with multiple ideas and diagnoses to discuss with House and the rest of the team, Kutner came up with solutions, sometimes even before House himself.

Why Did Kal Penn Leave House?

Kal Penn played the beloved character Lawrence Kutner on House, but a unique set of circumstances led to his character's exit.

Lawrence Kutner was known to think outside the box, something that worked perfectly under House's guidance. Kutner even managed to have a few epiphanies similar to those of Gregory House, proving his natural talents for the position. Kutner seemed to be the one who enjoyed House's unusual tactics the most and was willing to go far and beyond to solve a medical mystery. And while this put Kutner's life in danger a few times, it also proved that he was one of the best doctors suited for House's team. Kutner's heartbreaking and shocking death cut his potential short, and his absence was gravely missed.

1 Dr. Robert Chase Had the Most Interesting Character Development

First Episode

Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot" (also known as "Everybody Lies")

Last Episode

Season 8, Episode 22, "Everybody Dies"

Portrayed by

Jesse Spencer

Dr. Robert Chase began his time on House's team as a seemingly unscrupulous, opportunistic doctor. Chase had no loyalties and only did whatever worked best for him, even if it meant throwing his fellow doctors or even House himself under the bus. However, Chase's character development turned him into one of the most interesting characters in House MD, and he eventually became House's successor as the Head of Diagnostic Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro.

✕ Remove Ads

Chase was at the center of some of the most shocking moments of House MD, from killing a dictator to getting stabbed. He had many pivotal moments throughout the series that shaped his character and struggled with his own purpose, family issues, and his faith. Chase's relationship with Cameron brought a softer, more mature side to him. Their divorce saw Chase once again struggling to find himself as he returned to House's team. Chase was also one of the doctors who worked under House the longest, and learned the most out of House's brilliant yet controversial way of thinking and treating patients. And while he struggled not to become too much like House, Chase eventually realized his own potential. Chase was able to solve many difficult cases on his own. His contributions to House's team were some of the most important, especially in later seasons, making Chase the best doctor on House's team.
