policies. >> in his first week back in office, the president has been amplifying crackdown on undocumented immigrants. in fact, half moon bay nonprofit received a postcard filled with anti-immigrant rhetoric this week, loss. it's an organization that's dedicated to supporting latino immigrants and workers. it says the postcard have a list of places where the center says immigrants can be found and reported. the letter included schools, churches and restaurants. it also included a number and online link to report undocumented immigrants to ice. the organization says it is not moved by the hateful postcard. >> on the contrary, we're standing strong. we're very blessed in this county and in this community to have folks believe in our immigrant community. and that's what's driving our hope. our sheriff's office also contacted they're here to support, you know, whatever they need. >> as that, they will be adding extra security measures. moving forward, though. >> and their heightened fears

within immigrant communities san francisco after recent reports of an ice agent on a muni bus city officials have since debunk those reports. but that's not easing panic in the immigrant community. kron four's lezla gooden joins us now live from the newsroom with details on that. let's look. yes, there is growing concern right now about ice agents being in and around the bay area. >> on thursday, san francisco school officials sent out a letter to parents saying a student was approached by a an ice agent while riding the 29 muni bus and that the agent asked for his their id and where they were from now. san francisco mayor now telling us tonight that did not happen earlier today. i caught up with the mayor de lory while he was visiting a fire station in san francisco. i addressed him directly about the alleged ice encounter on a muni bus and how president trump's promise on mass deportation has many residents. residents now on edge. here's how he

responded. question. sorry, guys, sorry. we got many want to know about the muni, concerned that we're out a statement that it wasn't fair. fresno, i'm sorry say it, make sure that you guys i got it. but we got around. mayor, do you have anything to say? a lot of people are very scared right now. they would like to hear directly. really appreciate it. now, make sure that you have are i got this state and the people want to hear directly you. this care. >> the very scared were reaching out to community leaders were talking to the people were gathering information. yesterday's rumors. >> it's just we understand people are fearful. and so we we are in contact right now with community leaders and we will continue to communicate with the public. >> we also reached out to ice about this encounter and they told us in his statement that they were not involved in this incident. we also heard from local nonprofits like mission action about this and they gave us the following statement saying we want to reassure everyone that we are

actively investigating this incident at this time. we have been unable to verify the report and are unable to provide additional information beyond what is currently available. and this is what you can do. if you find yourself contacted by an ice agent, first, a calm and remains silent. you are not required to answer questions about your immigration status or where you were born to do not open the door without seeing a warrant. lastly document the incident safely without interfering and ask for a lawyer. if you are detained and mission action also tells us they will be working to verify all reports of alleged ice activity, dispelling rumors and providing support to those affected. we will continue to follow this story as it develops reporting in the newsroom. let's go in kron 4 news. all right, leslie, meantime, fears of deportation. >> they're not just exclusive to the latino community. it's also being felt in the asian american community as well.

that community says it has concerns of ice agents possibly asking for their citizenship status. the asian law caucus is joining other immigrant rights organizations this week to sue the trump administration over the executive order aiming to remove birthright citizenship. in a statement, the executive director for the asian law caucus says if you're born here, you're a citizen period. no politician, including president trump can decide who is american and who is not. tonight. state attorney general rob bonta is responding to president trump's executive order that declares there are only 2 genders, male and female. >> and it also rejects that people can transition from one gender to another or be considered non binary. >> california doj has your back. we support you have rights. you have protections to lgbtq+ community has state rights and state protections, federal rights and federal protections. trump's order while certainly concerning. i can't change those right and

those protections that you have and i will make sure to do everything in my power to protect your to defend your protections. >> president trump has signed the executive order but much of it requires more federal action. attorney general bonta says california's department of justice will be ready to go to court if and when the laws broken. >> and tonight crews are continuing to gain ground on the hughes fire that's now burning in castaic north of santa clarita. that fire is now 79% contained with more than 10,000 acres burning. that's up from 54% containment just a few hours ago, evacuation orders have since been lifted and the deadly wildfires burning in pacific palisades and altadena. those are almost fully contained tonight. the palisades fire now 77% contained has burned more than 23,000 acres. 11 people have died in that fire. the eaton fire in altadena is now 95% contained. it has burned more than 14,000 acres.

cal fire says that 17 people have died. tens of thousands of structures, homes, buildings, cars have been destroyed in both fires. president trump is in la tonight to tour the wildfire damage she landed earlier this afternoon and was greeted by governor newsom just a few minutes ago the president announced he is signing an executive order to quote. >> open up all the valves for water and quote, he also promised full federal support for southern california. but well come with conditions. kron four's capitol correspondent eytan wallace reports. >> president donald trump and california governor gavin newsom warmly embracing each other as the president arrived in los angeles for his trip to get an up close view of the devastation left behind by the fires. i appreciate the government coming out in. the political foes in this moment appearing to put their differences aside.

california on more brush management. water management insurance reform, utility management and firefighter staffing. we've heard from some of your colleagues, democrats, republicans, he says no conditions just get the aid to the people who need it when an end. i i actually think that that is absolutely the wrong direction. the only way we're going to get change to save future victims of fires and disasters. >> 2 to save future homes from destruction is to demand that the policymakers clean up their act. >> important to note the u.s. congress will play a large role here. house speaker mike johnson has publicly hinted he supports conditioning the aid. but as of now, no formal decision has been made reporting at the state capitol. eytan wallace kron. 4 news. >> all right. let's talk some weather here, of course, southern california and has been dealing with a lot the fires there. the santa ana winds just raging and not much in the way of rain today.

they're finally catching a break in the weather. you can see more of an onshore breeze and just some light winds out there right now. so not those strong gusty offshore winds. no fire danger being reported there. in fact, now things kind of switching gears. we're talking about the possibility of rain on some of those burn scar areas. so the national weather service has issued a flood watch. you can see near santa clarita as we've got some of the fire zones there that could be affected by some downpours. doesn't look like this rain is going to be a significant rain event. we're talking maybe about a 3rd to maybe about a half an inch of rain. but there is the possibility that we could see some thunderstorms embedded in the system comes by. so if you get one of those parked over one of those burn scars, certainly you could see some rainfall and the possibility of some mudslides and debris flows. we're going to be watching that right to the weekend and into monday. here's a look at the system coming through. not a lot of moisture with of the what a nice sight to see. finally, some rain making a return. the california some showers in the southland that will continue on and off through saturday and probably monday, too.

out there right now. here's a live shot looking out from the east bay hills over the bay. you see some of those clouds rolling on in right now. so far it is dry. we got weak system kind of rolling in some of those temperatures. back off today a bit. so you may have noticed that change some places as much as 11 degrees cooler into san jose. so the numbers took a drop. so we're not seeing those 70's out there today. still not bad. and plus spots at 66 degrees in santa rosa. it was a 61 and cocker 65 degrees in san jose. 61 in san francisco. 61 in oakland and a beautiful 62 in half moon bay. now the temperatures tonight are going to get cold again. we've got freeze watches posted for much of the north bay continue in the east bay and even down the peninsula on the stand, clara valley. look at some cold temperatures early on tomorrow morning. frosty conditions showing up in many of the valleys to tomorrow's overnight lows. you're dipping down to about 33 degrees in santa rosa. 38 vacaville, 37 and conquer. 35 and live more. even a possibility of a couple 30's popping up in the south

about the living conditions of farmworkers in the victims on her current force. charles clifford has that story. >> well, here in half moon bay, it has been 2 years since that tragic shooting on friday. neighbors and local officials came together to discuss the tragedy and also talk about some of the challenges that the undocumented immigrant farmworker community is facing. in half moon bay on friday, nonprofits, all u.s. and the national farm worker ministry along with local elected officials. >> held a ceremony to honor those who died in the tragic shootings 2 years ago. >> as we remember their lives, we honor them. we honor the work and what they contributed and continue contribute many ways to this community following the shootings farmworker chunli zhao was arrested and charged with allegedly killing 7 of his co-workers at 2 different farms in half moon bay. >> he has pled not guilty to 7 counts of first-degree murder and is currently in custody awaiting trial in the wake of the shootings. a lot of attention was focused on the poor living
