Can I Master Python, Lua & Kotlin Together Without Confusion?Answers: https://lnkd.in/gNSJtbkw #LearningToCode #Python #Lua #Kotlin #ProgrammingLanguagesHey everyone! 🙌So, I'm diving into the world of programming and have my eyes set on learning Python, Lua, and Kotlin all at once. It sounds exciting, right? But I’ve got a few concerns. 🤔 Here’s what I'm thinking:Balancing Three Languages: Is it really feasible to learn Python, Lua, and Kotlin simultaneously? 🧠Avoiding Confusion: I definitely don’t want to get the syntax or built-in methods mixed up! I want to make sure I’m on the right track, so I’m curious to know: What’s the best way to learn a programming language? 💻Here are a few ideas I’ve come up with:Focus on One Language at a Time (Initially): It might be a good idea to get really comfortable with one language before dabbling into others.Use Different Learning Resources: Consider mixing up your learning materials. Maybe use video tutorials for one and books or online courses for another.Build Simple Projects: Apply your knowledge by creating mini-projects in each language. This could help reinforce what you’ve learned.Regular R...

Is 'Winging It' in Software Development a Common Experience?Answers: https://lnkd.in/gS2RufFk #InternshipJourney #SoftwareDevelopment #WingingIt #CareerGrowth Hey folks! 🌟 I just started my first internship at a software company and got handed the task of migrating an old pet project to newer versions. Here's the kicker: before this, I taught myself programming by making games in game engines. 😊 I felt super confident in that world—like 95% of the time, I knew exactly what I was doing. But now? It feels like I'm constantly just *winging it*. 🎢 On paper, I should be doing alright. I managed to learn Angular and .NET on the go, migrating Angular through 9 versions and taking .NET from 2.2 to 8.0 all by myself! 🚀 But every time I solve an issue, it’s not like back in my game dev days where I understood what went wrong. Instead, I'm Googling error messages, browsing Stack Overflow solutions, and copy-pasting code until—boom!—it works. 💻✨ Honestly, diving into forums and GitHub threads can be overwhelming. It makes me wonder, how do these experienced developers feel so assured when dealing with these complex platforms? 🤔 My game engine was way simpler a...

Imposter Syndrome or Skill Deficit: How to Tell the Difference?Answers: https://lnkd.in/gFGzM8g9 #ImposterSyndrome #JuniorDeveloper #CareerGrowth #TechCommunityHey there! 💬 I’m curious about something that I think many of us can relate to: How do you know if you’re really suffering from imposter syndrome or if you might genuinely have room to improve?Let me set the scene: I’ve been a junior backend developer for over two years now at a small company. I jumped straight into this role after school, but before that, I self-taught with various online courses. I was excited, yet I find myself second-guessing everything lately. 😟 Here are some thoughts swirling in my head: Do I really have the skills? I sometimes feel like I’m forgetting the basics, which is concerning when you’re in a tech role. Age vs. Title: At nearly 40, I hold a junior title, and seeing my senior colleagues, who are younger and more experienced, adds to my unease. Salary Comparisons: It’s tough when someone who joined after you is making more, even if you both share a junior title. Progress Challenges: Issues I encounter seem simple, but I often take longer than expected ...

While I can handle LeetCode easy problems, I often find myself struggling with the medium ones. My solutions tend to be suboptimal, and there are times when I just can’t seem to crack a problem at all. When I finally take a look at the best solutions submitted by others, they seem so straightforward compared to mine! It makes me think, “Wow, that looks so simple! Why couldn’t I think of that?” 😅Is this feeling common among those learning data structures and algorithms (DSA)? Here’s how I’m feeling: Self-Doubt: I often question my intelligence when I compare my solutions to others'. Simplicity Shock: The winning solutions seem so effortless, and I can’t help but wonder what I’m missing. Frustration: It can be disheartening to feel like I’m not improving as fast as I'd like. So, to anyone out there who has faced similar struggles, how did you cope with these feelings? Here are some...

Which Low-Level Language Should You Learn for Game Development?Answers: https://lnkd.in/gkHkr_4H #LowLevelLanguages #GameDevelopment #CodingJourneyHey everyone! 👋 I've been diving into programming for a while now, thanks to things like Unity and Minecraft. I've got a solid grasp on C#, Java, and some JavaScript, but I'm itching to explore a lower-level language. I’ve been considering C, C++, or Rust, ideally to tinker with graphics APIs and game development. 🎮Here’s where I’m at: **C**: Super simple and a great entry point for understanding low-level programming. **C++**: More complex, but it opens up a lot of features for game development, plus it's widely used in the industry. **Rust**: Love the fact that it prioritizes memory safety without needing to handle pointers! 🛡️Based on this, I'm pretty torn! 🤔 I get that:- **C** is fantastic for learning foundational concepts without getting bogged down in complexity.- **C++** adds more powerful features but comes with a steeper learning curve.- **Rust** seems modern and safe, which is super appealing, but I’m unsure if it’s as established in game development ...

It's a great starting point for a newbie like me, but honestly, I feel a bit lost in the vast sea of information. My coding skills are still at the beginner level, and I find myself writing code with lots of errors. Most of the time, I have to rely on AI to help me finish it up and learn new functions along the way. What’s really weighing on my mind is the sheer amount of stuff out there! 😩 How on earth do you all memorize so many functions? And how do you write code without constantly checking online documentation for every little thing? Because every time I pull up the docs, it feels like I’m trying to decipher alien technology. I get sucked into a rabbit hole of endless reading, and it can be overwhelming! For example, just yesterday, I was trying to understand a function, but I had no clue what an iterator or iterable object was. I l...
